The situation in the energy sector and potential intervention measures on this sector were on the agenda of the meeting of the Special Committee on Parliamentary Monitoring and Control over the Implementation of the Reintegration Policy of the Republic of

On December 17, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian attended the working meeting of the Special Committee on Parliamentary Monitoring and Control over the Implementation of the Reintegration Policy of the Republic of Moldova, chaired by Deputy Roman Roșca, with the participation of members of the Committee, representatives of central public administration authorities, mayors of settlements located within the perimeter of the Security Zone, the leadership of energy sector enterprises and the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.

The subject of discussions was the evolution of the situation in the energy field in the context of the establishment of the state of emergency on the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova, starting with 16 December 2024, ways of intervention in various scenarios, assistance needs to ensure the protection of persons from high-risk groups and the proper functioning of national institutions interconnected with the natural gas delivery and electricity supply systems on the left bank of the Nistru River and in Bender, including educational institutions, penitentiaries, placement centers, hospitals, etc.

The availability of international partners to provide relevant humanitarian assistance in possible crisis situations was evoked, and in this respect the territorial subdivisions and local public authorities in the Security Zone were urged to identify a list of essential goods in order to request the profile support from the available resources.

Similarly, the message to increase energy efficiency measures and to take prompt action to mitigate the impact of potential crises in case of limitation of natural gas and/or electricity supply was reiterated.
