On 17 May 2024, the second meeting this year of working groups on healthcare, with the participation of experts from both banks of the Nistru River, was convened in videoconference format at the office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, in Chișinău.

The delegation from Chișinău was led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Alexandru Gasnaş and Deputy Director General of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, Ms. Lina Gudima.

During the meeting, discussions continued on the procedure of importing non-registered medicines in the Republic of Moldova, due to the presence of authorized analogues, which are found in the State Register of Medicinal Products and on the pharmaceutical market of the Republic of Moldova.

Experts from Chișinău reiterated the positions set out at the meeting of 24 January (https://gov.md/ro/content/prima-reuniune-din-acest-la-nivelul-expertilor-din-domeniul-ocrotirii-sanatatii), namely the need for all economic operators to comply with the general rules for authorizing the import of unauthorized medicinal products into the territory of the Republic of Moldova, following the end of the state of emergency at the end of 2023 and the repeal of the Provision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations No. 10 of 15 March 2022.

At the same time, representatives from Tiraspol were notified that a mechanism will be implemented that will allow laboratory control of the quality of medicines imported into the Republic of Moldova by companies from the Transnistrian region, taking into account the need to monitor the single pharmaceutical market, eliminate risks and ensure citizens’ access to quality medicines.
