Two large photovoltaic parks to be built in Moldova

26 February 2025, Chișinău – Two large photovoltaic power plants will be built in the localities of Negureni, Telenești district, and Rădeni, Strășeni district. Both plants are expected to be operational by December 2025, according to two draft decisions on construction authorization approved by the government.
The photovoltaic power plant in Negureni will have an installed capacity of 40 MW, while the plant in Rădeni - 50 MW. Putting them into operation will increase the total installed capacity of renewable energy sources to 670 MW, compared to 580 MW - at the end of 2024.
The two plants will generate over 100 million kWh annually, covering a significant portion of the energy needs of the right bank of the Dniester River, contributing to energy security and the decarbonization of the energy sector.
Both photovoltaic parks will deliver the generated energy to the free market, without resorting to any state support mechanism applied in Moldova. This shows the attractiveness of the renewable energy sector for business development, as well as the predictability of the applicable regulatory framework.
In accordance with the Electricity Law, the construction of free-market plants with a capacity greater than 20 MW must be approved by the government.
