An operative reaction mechanism to the residents’ difficulties in the Security Zone was established at the level of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, has established a mechanism for operational communication and resolution of difficulties faced by settlements on the left bank of Nistru and the Security Zone citizens.

Thus, every morning, the local public authorities are contacted by the Bureau of Reintegration’s public servants to document possible problems that may arise in relation to the exceptional status, established on both banks of Nistru river, to prevent the spread of the new COVID-19 coronavirus infection. It should be mentioned that on the left bank of Nistru, “mirror" measures taken by the Government of Chisinau were applied, an exceptional situation being declared, some activities of economic agents being suspended, except pharmacies and units marketing food products, restricted circulation of public transport, etc.

Throughout the day, officials from the Bureau of Reintegration, in coordination with the other state institutions’ representatives, intervene to solve the reported problems, whether they are related to access of certain categories of people to the left bank of Nistru or from the left to the right bank, or problems of another kind, which fall within the competence of the central public authorities.

"We are in constant contact with both the local public authorities from the Security Zone settlements and with the Tiraspol political representative to immediately release any difficulties that may arise. Communication is an effective tool in any crisis situation, and now it is vital to ensure the rights of citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including from the Security Zone, but also from Transnistria, as to maintain stability in the region", said the Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic.

In this context, it should be mentioned that it was agreed with Tiraspol to allow movement for the following categories of persons, without isolation in quarantine for 14 days:

- farmers who have agricultural land beyond the Râbnița-Tiraspol route, within the processed lands perimeter,

- emergency service personnel – firefighters,

- maintenance and repair services for electricity/natural gas networks,

- employees of penitentiary institutions and other civil servants categories in order to perform their duties.

For other situations, such as individual notifications, we cooperate in a working regime with the negotiation format actors and identify all possible ways to solve the occurring problems.
